A BILL to amend the code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §18A-3-1d, relating to allowing teachers holding K-8 endorsements to teach seventh and eighth grade classes.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §18A-3-1d, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 3. TRAINING, CERTIFICATION, LICENSING, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

§18A-3-1d. Kindergarten through eighth grade endorsements

Notwithstanding any rule or state board policy to the contrary, a professional educator, as defined in article one of this chapter, who is employed within the public school system of the state and who holds a current endorsement for kindergarten
through eighth grade, may be certified to teach departmentalized subjects in the seventh and eighth grades.



NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to allow teachers holding K-8 endorsements to teach seventh and eighth grade classes.
